BB-8 is a spherical, astromech droid first appearing in the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). He's characterized by his orange and white color scheme and rolling locomotion, which he achieves through a combination of internal gyroscopes and a freely rotating head.

BB-8 is loyal to the Resistance and played a crucial role in locating Luke Skywalker. The droid carried a vital piece of a map leading to Skywalker's location, making him a target for the First Order. He demonstrates resourcefulness and bravery throughout his adventures with Rey and Finn.
